Inspired by her lifelong love of sea turtles and firsthand experiences watching them on Sanibel’s beaches, the painting reflects both the beauty of these remarkable animals and the hope they represent. Roberts has long admired CROW’s dedication to rescuing and rehabilitating injured wildlife, making this commission especially meaningful. Proceeds from the sale of this one-of-a-kind artwork help support CROW’s wildlife hospital and the lifesaving care it provides to patients in need.

Sanibel, Florida-based artist Myra Roberts specializes in meticulously researched vintage Florida-style art of the 1920s to 1950s, and also social-commentary art based on World War II the Holocaust and Women. Local galleries featuring her work include Lily’s of Sanibel, Suncatcher’s Dream and Matilda’s on Sanibel.

Her paintings are in public and private collections across the U.S. and Europe, including the estate of Robert Rauschenberg. Roberts received letters of endorsement for her “Faces of Anne Frank” project from Hillary Rodham Clinton, and the Jane Goodall Institute.

“Myra Roberts is pleased to be commissioned to paint an original 9×12 acrylic painting titled “Rise Up” for the purpose of raising money for CROW. This is a project that is especially close to Myra’s heart as she has a deep connection with all animals and wildlife, in particular sea turtles, and through her talents wants to provide much needed love and care for these precious animals awaiting vital rehabilitation. Myra’s love for turtles has only grown over the years as she’s been lucky enough to spot several species of the elusive sea turtle in person while on her nightly beach walks on Sanibel, and was inspired by their beauty and grace. CROW. has been a huge inspiration to her art over the years, having visited the rehabilitation center numerous times. She has witnessed the wonders they can do to rescue and protect these majestic creatures. It means the world for Myra to be able to support CROW. through her art.”
