Where are you from?

I was born and raised in Naples, FL! I’m currently living in Estero while I finish my Bachelor’s in Biology at Florida Gulf Coast University.

What’s your position at CROW and how long are you here for?

I am a Wildlife Care Extern and I am here for 2 months this summer during peak baby season!

What’s your favorite part of your internship?

My favorite part of being a student at CROW is getting to see so many different animals and learn how to take care of them so they can be released back into the wild!

Favorite role in the hospital?

My favorite position in the hospital is either the baby raccoon room (they are so CUTE) or intakes, because I learn so much anatomy and I love learning how to administer treatments to our patients.

Favorite animal and why?

I genuinely can’t pick a favorite animal, I love all of them. It used to be koalas when I was a kid, but now I love snakes, owls, and raccoons. So, a little bit of everything!

What’s your most memorable CROW moment so far?

The most memorable moment at CROW so far has been learning how to do IV injections — and getting it on my first try — or feeling milk to the baby raccoons! I haven’t had the chance to go on any releases yet, but when I do I’m sure that’ll be one of my favorite experiences as well.

What activities or hobbies do you enjoy outside of CROW?

I enjoy reading and spending time with my fiancée. I also enjoy taking care of my plants (although I’m not very good at it).

What has been the most surprising thing during your time here?

It was surprising to see how many different birds are at CROW! I expected more mammals or reptiles. I’ve definitely learned a lot about birds during my time here.

What are some goals or aspirations for the future?

My goal is to eventually go to vet school and specialize either in exotics or surgery. I’m currently working on my vet school application for next year’s cycle, so hopefully I’m accepted!
