CROW Feather: Sophie Trowbridge

Where are you from?

“I am from Allentown, Pennsylvania.”

What is your position at CROW?

“Veterinary Medical Externship student.”

How long have you worked at CROW?

“I just completed my 5 week externship.”

What is your favorite animal and why?

“My favorite animal ever is a rhino but at the clinic was the red-shouldered hawks. I’ve always had a soft spot for raptors because of how graceful they look flying.”

What is your most memorable CROW moment?

“I have so many great memories at the hospital with staff but my favorite part was getting to practice a new skill and nailing it and the team being really happy for me. I also loved our trivia nights and getting to know everyone!”

What activities or hobbies do you enjoy outside of CROW?

“Outside of school related opportunities I’m also a runner and an avid reader. I’m running the New York City Marathon this year and have made it a goal to read more books for pleasure than academics. I also love to paint and draw and on the rare sunny warm days in PA I walk my tortoise!”

What are some of your goals or aspirations for the future?

“I aspire to be a zoo or exotic companion veterinarian and help educate others on care and husbandry or a veterinarian in Capitol Hill and form and advise new policies to help zoo/wild animals and other animal categories that need more representation.”
