36th Taste of the Islands Winners Announced


The Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) announced the winners of the 36th Taste of the Islands.  This year’s event featured 14 restaurants from Sanibel and Captiva.  The winners were selected by a five-member panel of judges that voted on a variety of categories while those in attendance voted for the “People’s Choice Award.”

Taste of the Islands Winners:

Best Appetizer: Sanibel Fish House - Ceviche
Best Meat: Thistle Lodge - Flank Steak and Root Veggie Gratin
Best Seafood: IL Cielo – Scallops with a Corn Relish, Shaved Cucumber & Citrus Ginger Vinaigrette
Best Vegetarian: Matzaluna - Vegan Zucchini Noodles
Best Dessert: Sanibel Sweet Shoppe - Key Lime Tart

“We are excited by the turnout for Taste of the Islands.  Everyone enjoyed the amazing food and live entertainment by the LCEC Kila-Watts,” said Debra Neri, event co-chair. “Thank you to everyone who attended and supported CROW’s mission of saving wildlife, especially the participating restaurants, sponsors and volunteers who made it all possible.” 

Funds raised through the event will benefit CROW’s mission to save wildlife through state-of-the-art veterinary care, research, education and conservation medicine.
